Since the mid-1980s, Brunet has taken a series of concrete steps to show its concern for the health of its customers, even though this often meant the company lost money. In 1986, a full 12 years before the adoption of the Tobacco Act, all of our stores voluntarily decided to remove all tobacco products from their shelves. The company did the same thing with products containing CFCs in 1989 in order to protect the ozone layer.
Face-to-face contact with the customer is another value that Brunet inherited from its founder. After 151 years of service, Brunet still retains a passion for the business and the same dedication to customer health. Even today, nurses visit twice a year in spring and fall to inform customers about the importance of controlling their blood sugar and cholesterol levels.
And as a company that has always taken the wellbeing of the elderly to heart, Brunet has teamed up with the Institut universitaire de gériatrie de Montréal to design a brochure containing tips and advice on how to maintain a healthy and balanced diet. Another brochure has also been designed to help you improve your memory. Then in October 2006, Brunet will officially launch its innovative "Health and Hygiene in the Pharmacy" program by installing dispensers containing an alcohol-based hand cleanser with skin softening agents in its stores to help its customers stay healthy.
In October 2008, for Breast Cancer Month, Brunet has partnered up with the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation for a new perfume: “Pour la vie”. It’s the only perfume authorized by the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation and will be sold exclusively at Brunet. For each perfume sold, Brunet will donate $2 to the foundation.
